"Ah, I see you are an Idealist. Are all wars evil?"

You see wrongly.

I am a veteran, and a volunteer. I am a student of military history, and international relations.

Any student of military doctrine recognizes the limits of force. It is no panacea.

The advisability of going to war against an enemy who is well-funded, well-armed, has no home, no location, has the will to fight and die, and whose appearance is totally unpredictable is highly suspect.

It becomes even more suspect when you factor in the willingness of hundreds of millions of civilians to sacrifice for that enemy's cause - up to, and including, their own lives.

I am advocating pragmatism.

I am advocating getting the parties to the table, and negotiating Israel's perpetual, perhaps enforceable, security.

I am further advocating that such a step would take the wind from the sails of other pan-Arabic/pseudo-Islamic causes by presenting both the United States and Israel as responsible players - in contravention to the propaganda.

Finally, I am advocating this alternative, fiendishly difficult as it is, as preferable to decades of death, the reasons for which will be clear to no one.
