Tbred so far has all the signs of being a disaster (based on schedule slips) like Palomino.

In trying to be objective I must admit that anything is possible and AMD might be stockpiling material for a launch. Nevertheless, a shipping product is always better than rumors and suspicion. If there is a problem it would look exactly like this. If Hammer wasn't going to live up to all the hype would AMD come out now and admit that as well?

Jozef:

By far the biggest q1 problem for companies is coming to grips with the new accounting rules around goodwill which come into effect for any companies entering a new fiscal year after Dec 15, 2000.

Obviously that poses a huge problem for any teck companies who are showing goodwill on their balance sheets as the losses for most teck goodwill purchases made over the past 3 years is 50 to 80%...Gonna be interesting to see how INTC with its $5 billion in goodwill is going to present its q1 version...(INTC's highest paid employees, its PR people, are going to have to earn their keep in q1 to keep INTC above $30/share...Is anyone seeing red here for INTC after its q1 accounting for goddwill??? I wouldn't bet the farm on it for those who think INTC will escape red after goodwill in q1!!!

Joe,

Tbred so far has all the signs of being a disaster (based on schedule slips) like Palomino.

That's why I've been out of AMD for a couple of months. You could see this slip coming a mile away.

Pravin.
