I really doubt that's it. They've indicated that they may launch only 66mhz higher than the .18 chips - and I'm pretty sure they could squeeze that much out...

Do you really think they can't?

I don't know. Intel had no problem in launching 1.6A and
1.8A Northwoods while regular P4 were up to 2.0.
You even have bought the 1.8A yourself, didn't you?
