The check's in the mail! First, if AMD does not make a profit in Q2, they will be a $10 stock a few minutes after the warning. Second, when Intel goes down, AMD goes down. Your dire predictions for Intel only bode badly for AMD. Third, AMD is having manufacturing problems at 0.13u. If they also have problems with SOI, Clawhammer will slip to mid '03. Forth, I suspect that Prescott will beat Clawhammer in performance.

I'm getting choked up here just reading this.

Pravin, Re: "Forth, I suspect that Prescott will beat Clawhammer in performance."

Just curious, but what kind of micro-architectural improvements do you think that Intel will include in this core?

All negativity is already factored in to AMD's price...Once T-bred appears, the "nervous nellies" will settle down, once again...

"Second, when Intel goes down, AMD goes down. Your dire predictions for Intel only bode badly for AMD."

AMD does not have $5 billion in goodwill it has to eat...That is a major short term plus for AMD...AMD, for the first time ever, has "product potential" not only to compete with INTC, but to beat INTC soundly...That is a "new paradigm" I suspect the price relationship between stock will soon begin to reflect this new paradigm...

"Third, AMD is having manufacturing problems at 0.13u. If they also have problems with SOI, Clawhammer will slip to mid '03. "

Huh??? Where have you seen any reference to such other than the FUD by the Aberdeenies in our midst...

"Forth, I suspect that Prescott will beat Clawhammer in performance."

Anything is possible, I guess, but I wouldn't count on prescott beating anything...p3 was supposed to knock off Athy, it didn't...p4 was supposed to knock out Athy, it didn't...prescott might even have a hard time knocking out Athy, given recent product evolution trends...

Pravin
all that you said is based on guessing but even if true recall that very recently amd was not expected to make profit until end of '02 and that was as per bulls. Now you are questioning if they would make profit in q2 - that is a good news by itself.
We do not know very much about amd production but the recent news is not something new but rather confirmation of what was already posted here few times. It does appear that .13um is a bit late with volume production.
Just a wild guess with low degree of possibility but is not the time frame indicated was originally planned for soi process. Is it possible that amd is skipping intermediate .13um for everything but mobiles? June is also the time when new via chipset is going to be out
When you say that Prescot would beat Clawhammer you mean it when compared best chips, similar clocks or clock and model numbe.
the 1st 2 are questionable and the 3rd is upto amd since amd can always change model number formulas
