I would like to know what AMD's utilization of all the fabs is (including JV1-3). It is probably less than 40%

I think it's much higher than that at the Dresden fab, perhaps 80%. For Austin where their yields may be decent, probably only about 25%.

<font color=red>AlienWare Athlon XP 2200+ Ad
Reported by: Chris Tom At: 6:24 PM Source: mail
I just got in my Computer Gaming World magazine and on page 98 there is an Alienware ad with the Athlon XP 2200+ listed. Now the question is when will this come out, and if this is the Palomino or the Thoroughbred core. The system is spec'd identically to a P4. 2.4 GHz system but is priced $200 less. I for one am glad Alienware is putting the Athlon XP system in the spotlight, and could only hope they would change their policy and send a box to me for review. :)

Joe, I expect flash to rebound very rapidly since many people need to get their orders in for summer/fall builds of all manner of things.
The short supply lines of JIT ordering do not mesh well with 8-12 weeks production advance notice, although most people know this, the downturn led people to collapse orders and many will get left short.
Alcatel for one is busy buying stuff from others now, so that will make a host of new clients for AMD.

Yes, A chip set has a lot fewer transistors than a CPU, but does use more power on average for driving external loads, so older .25 u fabs are ideal for this task, even .35 or .50 is fine as well.
