"The American female athletes would not be trying to make athletic stars out of the young women of Afghanistan. They would be there as an inspiration "

Come on ....almost all female track stars are black and I doubt Afghan women would identify with them let alone be inspired by their success running around a track in shorts. How could they be an inspiration.....better to send a crew of teachers, artists, doctors, or other professionals and perhaps a slew of ordinary working women not imprisoned in the burka. A week ago I watched the Nat. Geographic show on the search for the Afghan girl with the captivating eyes whose picture was taken about 15 years ago....they finally found her but her living conditions were really almost Stone Age and she was terrified to say a word much less look into a camera without her husband's permission. The whole thing bothered me for days. She is now about 35 and looks 65. And you think a track team is going to make an impression on her??
