I think the Guardian mis-speaks when it says that Sharon was held "personally responsible" for the massacres. I've always read that he was found to have "indirect" responsibility.

Just for the record, bacchus : the Israeli inquiry commission "did not held Sharon personally responsible" for the Sabra massacre, but indirectly responsible.
