Handguns do serve a purpose. Years ago, if I didn't have one in my hands I may not be here. The person realized what was under my towel and he left peacefully. Had he not, I would have killed him. Had I not had that handgun, he may have killed me. In the hands of the wrong people handguns are dangerous. I have been robbed at gunpoint, and pistol whipped.

"the issue is that in modern society handguns serve no good purpose" That statement is nothing more than you spouting your opinion, which in this case is incorrect. I have mentioned self protection a few times and recieved no response. Is your view that I have no right to protect myself or that a gun cannot help with that chore? As mentioned in previous posts, I am not fond of the idea of having a fist fight with an armed (or unarmed intruder). It is possible that my newspaper, and every single other newspaper I have ever read are incorrect and that no physical assualts, rapes or robberies occur in the United States, but I seriously doubt that. That you don't want to defend yourself or yur family does not bother me in the slightest. That you feel that I should not be able to is quite offensive. "YOU pick the society you want to live in!!!!!!!!!!!" That you think you can pick it is very telling of your fantastic imagination. We live in a dangerous world, and I choose to be as prepared as possible.
