IMO whatever discoveries they made would have been made anyway. Just step back and listen to yourself Joey... Just listen and hear the blatant prejudice you are displaying out here. Anyone can make that argument.. "Oh.. the Chinese are savages.. Who cares if they discovered gunpowder, rockets, herbal medicine... etc, etc... We would have discovered it eventually.."... But what you've done is invite the same argument being made towards the Christian West... "Oh.. who cares if they've gone to the moon, developed nuclear power and weaponry, or invented the internal combustion engine... We would have discovered it anyway... " And what I was confirming is that were it not for the Muslim bearing the brunt of the Mongol invasion, we'd all be likely speaking Mongol now, not English or the Romance languages and BOTH ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY might have disappeared, or developed a distinctly Asian "flavor". As for the Palestinians taking over Israel, you have to separate the strategy from the tactics. I have no doubt that they wish to wipe the Israelis off the face of the earth, just as many nations have wanted to do the same to the US, or another nation. That's just the history of mankind's tradition of domination driven through lust for power, and/or insecurity (better to attack now than to defend later).. And I have little doubt that such a victory would be a bloodbath for both sides, if not an outright genocide, as they fought to the death, or intervention by outside powers (which will likely eventually be the case). Palestinian and Arab leaders have been using muslim extremism as a weapon against Israel because it works.. to a limited extent. But do you think for a moment that these leaders permit such activities within their own countries?? They quash any attempt by extremists to subvert their own governments(eg: Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt), but it's alright to let the Palestinians use such tactics against Israel.. They figure if they're lucky both sides will wipe each other out and they can rush in and pick up the pieces. The fact is that the Arab history in the Mid-East has revolved around trying to create a Pan-Arab state. The Great Arab Revolt in WWI against the Turks was predicated on the British granting permission to create such a state. Nasser of Egypt, and Syria, for a brief period, formed the Uniter Arab Republic... And I have no doubt that this is still the dream, except no one can figure out who will govern it. Except that a little Jewish nation stands in the way. A Jewish nation with submarine based nuclear missiles, I might add.. :0) Thus, the Arabs have to find another method for destroying Israel, and that has primarily been through the Palestinians. It was the primary reason that the Arab states maintained them in refugee camps, rather than absorbing and resettling them in their own nations. And despite the fact that Jordan is 70% Palestinian (whatever defines one), King Hussein gave up all claim to the West Bank in 1989, and abandoned millions of Jordanian citizens to political "limbo" because he knew that had he retained the territory, Palestinian statehood would have developed into more than just the West Bank and Gaza. It would inevitably encompass his Hashemite Kingdom as well. I'm not particularly worried about the destruction of Israel, as I sense that Arabs have no desire to see the Jews unleash their nuclear arsenal as the nation dies... But they sure don't mind seeing Arafat keep them occupied and under economic pressure. But Arafat and these extremists are no different than the Anarchists which the Marxist-Leninists used to destabilize societies they wish to dominate politically. But NONE OF THIS is do to Islam.. except as a means of motivating people to do terrible things. For every verse one can find in the Koran citing God's desire to destroy the infidels, I could cite various Biblical references to the destruction of Canaan, the Philistines, Amorites... etc, etc,... Where god commanded that everyone be slain, man, woman, and child... But none of these references make either of these religions particularly more murderous than the other. Hawk
