Yep. As it turns out, he was asking for raw wafer costs.

Your questioning has already been refuted few times.
Did it ever come to you that the whole UMC _price_
maybe lower than corresponding AMD _cost_? Have you
heard about low labor cost in those regions, less
expensive environmental regulations, etc,
lower profit markups, have you?

Yousef,

AMD has been outsourcing chipsets to UMC, and has been able to sell them fairly cheaply. THe outsourcing may or may not happen, the extend is limited.

Later on, AMD will own half of the fab, so your concern about paying a middleman is valid only for the short term.
