By the way....we are in agreement on the settlements. It was a mistake by the Israelis to continue building them, and it was a mistake on the US's part not to make them an issue.

Good. It should be a part of any analysis. One bright note. Bush made a rather large point of underling a demand that the Israelis build no more settlements and that his view of a negotiation outcome was the same as Abdullah's--67 borders and recognition of Israel by the Arab states.

That's a much better place for Bush to be than in unquestioned support of Sharon.
