here in N.Ca they are asking for a 15% increase in ticket costs to offset the short fall

Can oyu give us some idea what percentage the rider pays and how much is government subsidy of every dollar spend by transit agency.

IN NE, mass transit subsidies run anywhere run anywhere from 20-90% of the actual cost of fare. NYC subways being most cost effective to surburban rail systems faring about the worst cost effective.
