-Z, Re: < There is very little religion in Israeli politics... however, Israel must remain a Jewish state so that the Jews have a homeland.>

Once you get past immigration and citizenship -- I'd agree with you.

What "homeland" do Christians, Muslims and Hindus have? Why do you think Jews need something the other three largest religeons don't have. (I'm giving Morman a break and saying they have Utah.)

What Jews need is a place where they can 'get along'.

And that's what the Palistinians also need.

>Much easier than saying religion has no place in state government or policies.
>And It'll be a long time before Israel admits that.

There is very little religion in Israeli politics... however, Israel must remain a Jewish state so that the Jews have a homeland.

Z, there is very little religion in Jewish politics? I can't agree.

So much of the right in politics is made up of the Hasidim, the ultra orthodox Jew. Not only do they fuel Sharon's aggression but they complain endlessly about the state of religious Israel and want even more involvement of Judaism in the everyday affairs of the Israelis and the gov't's operations.

Israel is not only a Jewish state in theory and as a beacon to non Israel Jews but in practice as well.

Re <<There is very little religion in Israeli politics... >>

You have got to be kidding!!! I mean no disrespect but I think this statement alone shows you have very little knowledge about Israel and probably the whole middle east conflict.
