Mani
earlier I posted some passeges that are used to brainwash kids. It was a one sided picture so to correct it let me quote

ii.256 "There is no compulsion in religion";
ii.62"Those who believe [i.e.Muslims] and those who follow the Jewish scriptures, and the Christians and the Sabians, and who believe in God and the Last Day and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."

those are the messages of tolerance but not all hear them.

and you have to agree though that Israel got to a point when negotiation was useless. In fact arafat refused cease of fire and had a recollection of it only when Israeli tanks were next to his office.

Albert

I know Sharon's history and I also know that he is supported by 70%+ Israelis. As you recall at one point Israeli's wanted peace negotiations

Re <<What most hurts Israel's case is Sharon's frequent outbursts. He should never have been made PM...head of defense maybe but not PM.>>

Are you familiar with Sharon's past?

Mani, are you referring to his reputation as "the butcher"? I have read the views from both sides. Its clear that the Lebanese Christians killed the Palestinians but whether Sharon was involved, I don't know.

Its been my experience that people who are outspoken and direct like Sharon don't usually hatch back room plots like the one that supposedly took place between the Israelis and the Lebanese.

What's your view?

ted
