Therefore my guess is that you won't suddenly find PCS staff all clued up on 1X.

my guess is Sprint is trying to cut costs anywhere and everywhere they can.

Perhaps QCOM should get a bit of the excess cash they have and launch a country-wide promotional campaign on 1X. It wouldn't take much imagination to do as others have suggested on this board and create enough name recognition that the "QCOM" inside label would sell phones by itself. And people would be sure to ask if the phone they are about to purchase has the "1X" chip.

Re: Sprint people in stores

I had a disturbing experience last week when I went into a Radio Shack to pick up some cable. There was some backup at the register so I started to talk to a salesman about Sprint service, posing as a potential customer. He immediately touted me off of Sprint and on to Verizon. I was taken aback. He explained that Sprint had poor coverage and that was typically only subscribed to by teenagers getting their first cell phone! He then took me over to the coverage maps for each service to show me the differences, to drive home his point.

What kind of a deal does Sprint have with RS? Do the salesman get a bigger commission from VZ? Was this guy just some loose cannon?

Puzzled,

jack
