I was merely pointing out, by analogy, what makes your first post, humorous.

To extrapolate such a broad rule from such a small sample population as you have, is funny. But if I just said that, it would not be funny.

But if I show by a ludicrous, obviously unbelievable analogy, and compare it to your statement, the human mind after comparing the two, then sees the incongruity in a non-threatening manner which it does find, "funny".

Sometimes the ability to view obliquely is much more convincing logic.

Issac Asimov, the science fiction author, did a lot of work in this area, years ago.
