Q1 Minimum Numbers

According to the new covenants. Crickets minimum EBITDA in Q2, Q3, Q4 must look like this..

Q1..........Q2..........Q3.........Q4
(?).......($27)....(0).........9

Given 9 million in corporate G/A per quarter, The consolidated EBITDA for LWIN will look like this.

Q1..........Q2..........Q3.........Q4
(?).......($36)....(9).........0

To achieve (78,000) consolidated EBITDA loss for FY02. Q1 Consolidated EBITDA loss would be limited to (33,000) in Q1

Q1...........Q2..........Q3.........Q4
(33).......(36)....(9).........0 = (78)

I still say a buck or better for the Consolidated EBITDA loss in Q1.

1. The overall age of the Leap's covered POPs by the end of Q1 2002 will be nearly 11 months. Leap has indicated that at the end of 12 months its typical market is penetrated to between 6 and 7 percent. Let us assume the lower number - 6 percent. So at the end of Q1 2002, based on 11 months age of the markets, the overall penetration can be assumed as 5.4 percentage. Therefore, the total subs will be 5.4/100*25,300,000 = 1,366,000. That's about an increase of 247,000. Net Adds = 247,000.

This is basically how I estamate the number of net adds....though I try and make an allowance for higher net adds during the first quarter after launch and during Christmas.

FWIW....I came up with 241,000 net adds for the quarter.

A pretty bullish take on Leap from Soundview....

research.soundview.com

Some highlights.....

- They increased handset prices on Feb. 7th and saw no reduction in demand.

- Dealers believe they could raise their plan prices.

- They expect 260,000 net additions. This is based on their own channel checks....this is up from their previous estimate of 180,000.
