"Oh, I see ...", said the police officer (who, by the way, was studying for his PhD in Nuclear Physics at the world famous "Degrees-By-Mail" mail order college). It was only after having written down the concise cause of the problem on his police report did the highly perceptive officer realize that he had been speaking to a ... a rabbit? Puzzled, he tore up the report, knowing that if anybody read that down at the precinct he'd be the butt of jokes for years to come. Bugs Pond (our hero!) and crew, now de-de-bifurcated (or, is that re-bifurcated?) had gathered their belongings and began winding their way down the hospital's staircase. The power to the city was just beginning to come back online, so Bugs didn't want to chance getting stuck in the elevator with this bunch of weirdos! Muffy was still disappointed that her alter-ego wasn't around to "entertain" her, but she had decided that the unkempt out of work hippie/actor, Scruffy, wasn't such a bad guy after all. Now that he'd had a shower, that is. She proceeded to tell him about her days at the orphanage, and the fun times they all shared at shower time. Especially the caretaker. He was always there in the shower with them, making sure everybody washed behind their ears, and other places. He really seemed to enjoy shower time. Precious was tagging along, counting each of the steps they took, and cataloging the number of flourescent bulbs that were lighting their way. At the landing of the 2nd floor, Bugs stopped abruptly. "Shhh !!", he whispered ... "what's that sound?" His entourage dutifully stopped in their tracks and listened carefully. Scruffy was glad to have an excuse to break off from the boring description of Muffy's childhood. Stuffy, who was highly experienced in recovering stuff from all kinds of places, immediately recognized the sound that was emanating from just inside the 2nd floor stairwell door ...
