Dan,

The obvious partner for AMD is really SUN.

Would be quite a gamble for Sun, who's losing share big time to IBM and Dell, to pair up with a chip vendor that has no experience in the server business. RAS, very big OS Matrix compatibility verification, clusters and other special applications verification, not to mention reliable infrastructure, are all areas that come to mind that could be seen as show inhibitors, if not stoppers. The Enterprise space is very conservative; the phrase "nobody ever got fired for buying IBM" being coined there. I'd give what you suggest a snowball's chance in Yuma in the summer.
