re: EDGE & Dr. J.

<< This is exactly what Dr. J. said back in November >>

... and loyal Quidiouts pray every night for that to be the case, hoping it won't be one more of those cdmaOne is REALLY 5x GSM fantasies.

It is hard to say yet to what degree EDGE changes the game, but change it, it will.

Do you post all your brain fartes on multiple threads?

Interesting.

I wonder what happened to the vaunted stepladder-like GPRS/EDGE/UMTS migration route to 3G in Europe?

If the EDGE infra/speed problem does not apply to highly celled concentrated metropolitan areas, I don't undertand why EDGE has been taken off the lockstep hierarchical migration route in Europe unless, of course, there is a high degree of confidence that UMTS will roll out succesfully in Europe this year. Which is fine by me.

JohnG, Carranza and Seybold

There is very old (finnish) joke, going like this (color applies
mostly for local birds, seagulls,etc)

That (white) stuff around the birdshxt, what is that?

hmm..hmm...

That's birdshxt too

Now, guess what a GSM/GPRS/EDGE cell uses outside the EDGE/GPRS/GSM range, in
case the network has been bult without sharing masts and the level of investments have
been low due to low penetration rates??

In the opposite case they use the neighboring EDGE cell.
