I've never talked to anyone in industry that would credit EVRC with giving cdmaOne close to 5x efficiency to current GSM.

Personally I would be surprised if any executives ever gave the real numbers in public presentations....there are always subjective points in these calculations and they give the benefit of the doubt to the technology they favor. One observation....EVRC was only implemented by PCS in March of '00.

FWIW....LWIN has their own set of statistics. Obviously these stat's are subject to quite a bit of bias.

Still....the most compelling statistic that I have seen for CDMA's efficiency is the amount of spectrum that PCS is currently using (3.87MHz).

If Cingular was only using 11MHz of spectrum (on average) the TDMA-GSM transition wouldnt be that big a deal.
