re: it has every right to make that demand.
it has the right to demand, true
Israel has the right to ignore that demand while exercising its right for self-defense. It is right of every country and US exercised that right very recently, if you recall.
re: It may be the only chance they have to live a long life.
seems like Israeli's disagree since they give their support to Sharon.
re: both Sharon and Arafat are out of control
I liked that one. A lot of thing was said about "evil" Sharon recently yet he exercised extreme restrain in targeting only known terrorist locations.
I am amazed how much control Sharon showed over the last year and a half including now. He truly deserve world praises rather than criticism

>By my estimation, both Sharon and Arafat are out of control. Both have asked the US to participate and take an active role in the peace making process. If the US believes that it is in the best interest of peace for Sharon to pull back, then it has every right to make that demand.

Actually, I don't recall Sharon asking the US to participate... he would like to just carry on his war on terrorism, and the world won't let him.

>Not for one moment do I forget about my friends in Israel. The kibbutz of one of them is very close to the Golan Hts.

The Golan Heights area is actually pretty safe... Israel has a defensive advantage there... there are Druze (they are Arabs, they just don't want to be identified with them)who live there, but the Druze want to be part of Israel and are quite peaceful. They actually serve quite proudly in the Israeli army.
