Hi Mike-

In the Talmud, decisions of the judges cannot be appealed except in two cases: Capital crimes and when the 19 (or so) judges make a unanimous decision. Why the latter? Probably because something must be wrong if Jews agree on anything. Actually, it is to avoid a rush to judgment.

The Saudi proposal was more significant than recognizing Israel; it was for full normalization. Trade, tourism, treaties, cultural exchanges, etc. Why has not Sharon jumped on it as a basis for negotiation? IMO, he can only think militarily. It is indeed grim.
