I think Powell will do his best to achieve some kind of stability in the region. Cheney's trip a few weeks back was a total waste of time.

I think the most fruitful ideas of Israel's was the creating of a division among Arab states. Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia on one side with Iran and Iraq on the other.
If some Arab states recognized Israel the others would have great difficulty attacking Israel.

I have yet to read of a good idea on how to deal with Arafat. He can't be killed, exiled, by -passed or exiled.
Any future Palestinean leader will get nowhere while Arafat hangs around. Even if free elections were held in Palestine, anyone whole ran for the top job would be assassination bait by those who favored Arafat or Hamaas.

Any Ideas???
