Jim, actually all of the Egyptians I know are really nice people, just going about their daily lives like the rest of the middle-upper class world.
So you have to pay a few pounds to make things flow, that is the accepted way in that part of the world, and the course of normal everyday exchange.
Once you get used to it becomes kind of a game to Westerners who are way too up-tight...
I guess corruption was a little strong for the average man in the street, I was meaning more toward corruption in the upper reaches of Govt.s in the region.

In any society there is that radical edge, the 1 percenters, to use the biker slang. And that 1% seems to get all the press, while the good, decent 99% gets to pay for it, in so many ways..
