MD, I absolutely agree with you on the differences between the terrorists and true freedom fighters - the World is quickly going downhill nowadays... For hundreds of years the armies made real effort to limit fighting to between soldiers only. It was Hitler's invasion of Poland that became the first TOTAL war against civilians as well as the military. And the atrocities against civilians and the Jews and other minorities followed. BUT, later on, under the German occupation the underground forces would STILL limit their actions to the German military targets, and the known collaborators. Remarkable, but true. Today, sadly, there are NO rules left... The terrorists strike at random, and may even achieve their aims, because the World begins to NOTICE them. Sad... Piotr

But if what I was once told is correct (and please correct me if it is wrong), that every citizen of Israel must serve a mandatory term in the army and then become reservists subject to recall at any time, then by your definition, Islamic Jihad and Hamas are freedom fighters. The Israeli settlers in occupied Palestinian lands are nothing more than an undercover invading army. Don't get me wrong. I don't condone their (the Palestinians) actions.
