Joe re: I think both your and my link said something about difficulty obtaining right samples for comparison. I think one of them said something about interpretation of the reasons why it could be so close so correlation would be misleading. I do not believe that sampling should be an issue, should it? Either way the article that posted said "In descending order after these Middle Easterners, Ashkenazi Jews correlate best with Greeks and Turks;" That correlation with turks is 3rd in line after mid-east, one would expect stronger correlation than that if Khazar theory would play out. It is a safe assumption that there is a correlation between mid-easterners and turks because of the some common genetic traits. That might virtually eliminate turks as an option as well as Russions. Farthermore there is a list of tribes of the area that was given cossaks web that suggests most of the people in the area were from slavic tribes. That farther suggest that if there was a mix of large proportion we should expect large correlation with Russians. Since that did not happened. If I am to guess then it looks like turk's correlation maybe due to correlation of turks and mid-easterners. In support of that theory I found a mentioning of some small communities in Russia who basically follow Judaism but they do not consider themselves as jews. The are likely to be Khazars descendants and they are russian. And that brings us back to low correlation with Russians -Albert
