Still, it is a grim situation with no rational solution, because, as Jacob has said. some of the key players --the suicidal terrorists --are not rational. They constitute a threat to every stable nation, whether Arab or not. Just look at the tremendous slaughter committed in Algeria by the Moslem Brotherhood in the name of god. Somehow the number of Algerians killed by the brotherhood that comes to my mind is close to 100,000. Therefore, Arafat and terrorism constitutes a threat to the stable Arab countries and they don't want to support him or have him succeed. However, many of the Arab masses are so imbued with hate for the west that the leaders publically cannot criticize Arafat, and have therefore criticized Israel. Only Iraq, needing the support from the masses, has given any real support for Arafat. Iraq is a secular Arab country that slaughtered the Moslem Brotherhood and detests the fundamentalists.
