You might also consider how the two alternative strategies might affect your cash and margin balances. The option trade is an immediate cash generator, while utilizing some of the excess margin balance in your account, whereas the stock purchase is a cash burner (can't be purchased on margin and can't be used as collateral to buy other stocks).
