But you are trivializing Israel's right to defend itself right now, by connecting these attacks in any way to the holocost. Albert was being sarcastic- Ted was doing the connecting, and Albert was ribbing him for it. >Israel settled on the land in Moses time, lost the land in wars with the Philistinians, Romans Turks; and reclaimed the land from the British. A bit off with the history... the earliest back it can be proven they had it was at the time when the guy who in the Bible is King David's grandson ruled it, in the 700s BC... of course, I don't take biblical history as proof. Also, the Judeans/Israelis kicked the Philistines' ass and never lost to them. The history of the rule of the land was: Canaanite tribes (from which the Israelites and Judeans emerged) ---> Judeans and Israelites (there's a difference, the Judeans are the ancestors of today's Jews, no one's really sure what came of the Israelites)---> Judeans and Assyrians (the Assyrians exlied the Israelites) --> Babylonians (who defeated the Assyrians in the 600s BC and exiled the Judeans in 586 BC)---> the Persians (defeated the Babylonians in the 400s BC)----> the Judeans/Jews (given the land back by the Persian king Cyrus in the 400s BC)---> the Greeks (who took it from the Judeans in the 200s BC, I think under Alexander the Great)---> the Jews (who took it back in the 100s BC)---> the Romans (who took it from the Jews in the 00s BC and then exiled the Jews in 70 AD)---> the Byzantines (who took it over after the fall of the Roman Empire) ---> the Ottoman Turks, the Arabs, the Catholic Church back and forth over a few hundred years around the time of the Crusades---> and back to the Ottoman Turks from something like the 1300s AD until 1917 ---> the British (who claimed it after the Ottomans fell in WWI---> the Israelis. That doesn't affect your main point at all, I just wanted to straighten that out. -Z
