There are a couple of differences. For one, Jews have been persecuted in nearly every single country in the world over a period of 2000 years... the hatred is much more widespread. In a number of instances, especially the Holocaust, people tried to exterminate them completely, and in the Holocaust, an entire third of them were wiped out. Also, there's extensive propaganda against Jews in the world. Do you realize that blood libel accusations still circulate in the world? How about the fact that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a best-seller throughout the Arab world? That's all way more than I can say for any other group. Z, I think the argument I was making to Albert was first, the Holocaust happened and it was horrific but I refuse to make decisions or take a particular view today re Israelis because of the Holocaust. Secondly, the Jews may have been persecuted more severely than the Palestinians or any other group in history for that matter, but that doesn't make me a racist or prejuced against Jews if I favor a Palestinian issue over an Israeli one. I understand that Israel and Judaism are very much interwined with each other but when I view Israel, I view a country, not a religion. I only make these points because of Albert's attempts to make my positions on this thread look like a form of anti semitism. ted
