Gore would not have laid off Afghanistan, nor would any president except Ralph Nader. Gore is no hand-wringing liberal. He volunteered for the Army infantry for one thing, unlike GW and Cheney who avoided the war. You have a false impression of Democrats of being anti-military. That's simple not true. Prior to Vietnam, JFK was quite the hawk. In fact he started us in Vietnam, faced down the Soviets and created the Green Berets. Johnson was a big oil/military crony and bombed the hell out of Vietnam. John Kerry and Bob Kerrey are both Silver Star Medal of Honor winners. Democrats are only doves when the war is un-just. That's smart. And what happened with big "hawk" Bush Sr leaving Saddam alone? Was that all part of a bigger oil deal? Big Oil rules the GOP now. Have to change that. It's at the root of most of our problems now.
