Very good points. Thanks for the clarification. "My point that the risk of an unhappy outcome from mad-scientist scenario is less if we do cloning research here at home." Success in the mad scientist scenario is not success in the sense of success for humanity as I think of it. Its a bad sci-fi movie theme. Doing some work at home to maintain a knowledgeable team of research advisors and to keep abreast with developments in, for example, nerve cell regeneration seems to have some positive benefits. I am still undecided. I can imagine benefits but the risks at this point seem to far out weight the benefits. Thus I am in favour of the typical position of the FDA. That is, if someone else does go ahead and do it and we see sufficient safe gaurds we can reconsider the issue.

Guy named Barry Crimmins on Chávez/CIA - barrycrimmins.com Without knowing any of the specifics of the human cloning dispute nor where the various purveyors of religion and/or -isms line up on it, i find myself in a perfectly virginal position from which to observe that this is very very scarey stuff indeed, full of scientific and ethical pitfalls, muchísimo risk for the species ...... your hundred-monkey argument is also valid perhaps, do unto others, just be sure to do it first ..... time to read up on the issue maybe, trade my perspective for cheap thrills with brand names ... cheers
