They hate each other (both sides have reasons that are valid) and they show no sign of wanting to hold hands in a New Age circle. So, either supply arms to both sides or neither. Is there another way? Let's face it -- Israel is a Zionist (race-based and European, largely) state. That may p!ss people off that I think that, but it sure seems to be true. There is this tribe in Africa (NOVA did an episode on this group) that are practicing Jews, black as anything, and have preserved the tradition of allowing only male heredity to entitle someone to be a rabbi. This is born out by analysis of the DNA of the mitochondria. Do you think they would be accepted in Israel? I sure don't. It's like America with antebellum South trying to solve the "slave problem". The problem is that as long as there are only BLACK slaves, the problem is divided along racial lines. Maybe Israel should be opening missions in Muslim nations offering food and good will and not just bulldozing buildings with women and children in them. With that said, I don't see the Muslims opening charities in Israel either. So, back to square one. We should step back or hammer them both into submission.
