Re: "Why doesn't the Democratic party TACKLE some of the issues created in these inner cities instead of BLAMING the ones who are not at fault?"

That's my point, and thanks for illustrating it for me so nicely. Suburban (Republican) neglect is one major reason why many of our inner cities are crumbling. It's a REGIONAL problem, not a Democratic problem, but the last thing many if not most Republicans from the 'burbs want to do is use their tax dollars to fix problems in the urban cores.

Re: "In general they (unions) are past their prime need, and individiuals would be best served to equip themselves the best they can, and CHOOSE who they will work for."

Another simplistic sounds-good-in-theory Republican sound bite. Tell that to the 49-year-old IBM worker who, two years ago, got a letter from Human Resources saying that the company was switching from a defined benefit pension plan to a cash-balance pension plan so IBM could become "more competitive" in the marketplace. Joe Worker at IBM couldn't do a damn thing to prevent the company from short-changing him by tens of thousands of dollars because the pension plan is controlled solely by the corporate suits.

On the other hand ... my employer tried to pull something similar about four-five years ago, but guess what? Our pension is controlled JOINTLY by the union and the company, so we told the suits from corporate to take a long walk off a short pier.

Re: " I am an independent thinker who puts a lot of emphasis on honesty and integrity."

That's hogwash. I have yet to see you disagree with the Republican mantra on any topic.

Re: "You didn't answer my question. I don't think you can without showing the hypocricy in your position."

I have no idea what you're talking about. Restate your question.
