and doesn't mean we should support continued invasion like it ... which is still going on - look at that map of 'settlements' and connecting militarised roads, at Sharon marching on their holy site a year and a half ago ... this is the complete subjugation of one people by another, and nothing excuses it

You seem to imply that somehow Sharon was desecrating a holy site. What he was doing was visiting the holiest place for Jews (and the third most important holy site for Moslems) he didn't damage anything or enter the mosque or do anything else directly harmful to the site or the people at the site.

As for this "invasion". If Canada put a lot of effort in to creating and supporting terrorist squads who crossed the border in to the US, and America's protests fell on deaf ears in Ottawa then the US eventually would invade and would be justified in doing so. Canada is a sovereign country, a close friend of the US, and it has a long history of good behavior, but if it attacked the US then an American invasion would not be wrong. The PA sent terrorists against Israel and allowed other groups to do the same, it has no history of good behavior or friendship with Israel. If its going to attack Israel then Israel is not in the wrong when it retaliates.
