One thing I take as a big positive out of the CC is that AMD has put Appaloosa out of it's misery. I thought AMD management was coletively out of their minds to put it on the roadmap.

Another positive is that ther will be a T-bred with 512K L2, even though they hijacked the code name Barton to do this.

Both great news, and I am glad that AMD sees things the same way I see it. Too bad it took them too long to realize this.

As many have said, this quarter is completely in a limbo, .13u is basically nowhere, .13u mobile design win must have been terrible, since Jerry mentioned something about the end of the year. The desktop 256K L2 Tbreds are a mistake (except to parallel speed grades up to 2100+).

I hope flash will start to contribute this quarter to offset lower ASPs and pressure on units in microprocessor segment.

Joe

I think you are probably right--their roadmap seems to make the most sense if you take the middle of the processor rectangle as the most likely production date.

I worry that AMD may end up marketing Hammer so heavily for the remainder of the year that they start to choke off demand for Athlons. Particularly during the fall-winter buying season, there is perhaps a danger that even AMD loyalists will defer a processor/PC purchase until they can get a Hammer with it promised quantum improvement in speed.

Joe:I think the guy posting at Aces just misunderstood what was said or shown.

I agree. I knew when I posted that link it was pie-in-the-sky, but if true, it would have at least partially explained t-bred's slow roll out - particularly in light of announcements like the .13 conversion being a quarter ahead of schedule. I don't know what to make of that. :/ Perhaps they're referring to .13 SOI, not .13 bulk.
