How's that war on cancer going? How's that war on drugs going? How's that war on poverty going? Lets start a war on oil.

Pass a law, solve a problem. Neat.

Sometimes these 5- and 10-year plans actually work, George, e.g., the man-on-the-moon rocket launch in '69.

Flap, the drivel you post is the residue of what some intelligent people once believed.

Abandonment of the space program constitutes a tacit admission that it was an extravagant waste. The burden fell heaviest on the common working man and woman.

You once inferred an acquaintance with Thomas Sowell's works. If you took time to examine his KNOWLEDGE AND DECISIONS, you'd understand why centrally planned projects are bound to fail. Perhaps the onliest exception is when it's necessary to wage total war.

As to GM and Exxon buying influence, it's a sad fact that they have to protect themselves from the ignorant parasites in D.C.
