Thank you for that mini lecture on existence, with which I disagree, BTW.

Certain sexual behaviors have psychological manifestations that are not healthy--they sully the minds (eg.,forming neuroses)

Uhhhh, not according to any psychiatric theory I'm aware of.

and bodies (eg.,hepatitis, hemorrhoids . . .) of people.

Loving intercourse between a husband and a wife can result in urinary tract infection. Are you suggesting that the woman in this case is being sullied?

"Just look at Barbara, her nails are perfectly manicured, her Jag is always spotless, and she graduated from Vassar--what's so wrong with her husband putting a leather mask over her head, having her wear a dog collar, and watching her have sex with his boss? For heaven's sake, they're consenting adults! "

Just curious, why the addition of these lifestyle details? Do you believe that owning a Jaguar makes one better somehow? Or attending an Ivy League college?

And more to your point, if no one is coercing Barbara (or Karma, or poet) into doing a sexual act and if the sexual act is enjoyable to all parties even it weren't something I could imagine doing, like this sordid little scene, I'd still say it's not for me to judge.

this is a very profound topic as it addresses the reverberation (not limited to sexual acts) of actions on the physical plane into the realm of our psychology. Consequences, consequences . . . sometimes they're subtle, but nothing is inconsequential.

Shall I insert the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey here? -g

"Certain sexual behaviors have psychological manifestations that are not healthy--they sully the minds"

That is nonsense: Sexual behaviours originate in choices and values. If people were not responsible for moral agency, there would be little point in discussing the morality of their behaviour.

"The notion that the repetition of this kind of act over a span of years doesn't begin shape a person's character and relationships, denies a serious awareness of human psychology"

Again...you are showing a lack of awareness (serious or otherwise). The acts of people (over a span of years) happen to originate in the free moral choice of the individual; otherwise...he is not responsible, and your criticisms are gainsayed.

Your comment--from your own imagination: "I wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall of the smallest room in either of their brains. And if "Barbara" were my sister . . . I, uh, would be . . .uh . . . unhappyish."

So...either you detest wealthy people--or you don't like watching other people have sex? Well, you have stated your personal preferences...but I suppose your point is too obscure to be readily comprehensible.

"Actually, this is a very profound topic as it addresses the reverberation (not limited to sexual acts) of actions on the physical plane into the realm of our psychology"

INDEED, quite profound...Like..action precedes thought, huh?? Then, how do you propose that people ever make changes for better or worse??? Random Actions??? And where do you find the moral support for your criticism of the unconceived actions of others? After all...your own actions just "happened", right? And that is why you think as you do...all that "reverberation"... ;-)
