Well, I just looked through most of political threads on SI to see what coverage or discussion there was about the death of 4 Canadian solidiers and the injury of 8 others in Afghanistan yestereday as a result of a "friendly-fire" incident by a U.S. F-16 fighter....evidently, the pilot was told not to fire twice but decided to test his armaments on defenceless soldiers in the open during a training exercise.. There was precious little coverage of the incident on the major U.S. networks...President Bush held 5 news conferences and made one remark as he was leaving the press room to a Canadian reporter...people in Canada are shocked at the sheer insenstiivity of the American President and media at this tragedy... I am starting to realize that the perception of Americans as being self-centred and igornant of any pain they cause however unintentional, grows out of incidents like this...shame....
