JEITA: China will produce a quarter of global mobile phones in 2002 digitimes.com Compiled from outside sources by Lisa Tsai, Research Center; According to a recent report by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), mobile phone production in China in 2002 is projected to reach 115 million units, up 72.6% from the previous year, to represent over a fourth of the world's output. The report also said that in 2002 China is expected to manufacture 14.74 million DVD drives and 32.83 million color TVs, increasing by a respective 115.8% and 3.8% over 2001.
