I can tell you that moving from an area heavily populated with Jewish people (NY Metro) to the Midwest, I find the support for Israel to be quite strong.

I believe many people here see the situation as a confrontation between Judeo Christian values and Islamic values.

I wonder how much sympathy for the Muslims we will hear on this thread when they unleash the next attack on the USA. Perhaps as long as one is not touched directly by the terrorism, one can continue to maintain their delusions that Israel really is a central issue in this clash of civilizations.

The folk from the heartland who show up for a Victor Hanson talk hardly strike me as representative of it.

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

In the last Presidential election the heartland was colored all red. Only the two coasts and urban cities had any blue.
