Augie, my main point is that you said "it may be a good time to short the stock if you are so inclined" and I am simply pointing out that earnings are Wednesday after the bell. I thought TA was at least somewhat impacted by "news and events"?

You're absolutely right. I was speaking a bit loosely, even for me.

I should have said that this might be a time to start thinking about/planning for a short, i.e., looking at other factors -- like earnings on Wed -- and figuring out if it seems like a good idea.

It appears to me that many that follow this thread basically day trade as opposed to holding positions for extended periods.

I think that's true. After all, it's "Zeev's Turnips'," and he daytrades.

In your second scenario, "if" the price of the stock did go up a few days in a row, might that not change TA patterns, I don't know?

It could, but there is what looks to me like pretty strong overhead resistance at about $42, so it would have to take out that level pretty convincingly to go much further.
