Here is George Wills latest. I am publishing it because:

I read Wills for many years. Enjoyed it. Much like I read Safire today. But I finally decided that he, like many other columnists, this sin is no respector of right-left markings, finds it necessary to reduce all issues to "moral clarity." If folks, the reasoning goes, would just think like George all would be blindingly clear. We are the good guys; they are the bad guys.

So I continue to read him but when he takes a stand on an issue I care about, I find it important to read counter arguments, check the data, etc. Sometimes I find he's got the data right, sometimes I find he's got just the chunk of the data he liked. But opinion pieces are opinion pieces.

For a refreshingly different take on environmental issues, here's one from an unknown. ;-) (I love the grin with the slightly raised eyebrow--the closest I can get to the ironical shrug.)

George Will is full of it on ANWAR and energy policy.
I used to respect the guy's mind. No longer.

Wanr the answer to the energy problem? Get off oil 50% in 10 years. How? Replace ex oil CEO's/Enron partners Bush-Cheney.

The Germans are moving ahead of us as usual.
