Hmmm... well the M-16 was revamped with a 3 round burst selection, tighter rifle twist and new ammunition, so it's not really the same weapon as was deployed in Vietnam..

But my major beef with the weapon is its vulnerability to jamming when a little sand gets in it (and I'm not talking about a lot either)... I got sick of it jamming on me when we were using MILES gear... But blanks will gum up any weapon more rapidly than live rounds.

Had a chance to put a few rounds through a Galil and I just loved the weapon. Very reliable..

As for the OICW costing so much, that goes with its capabilities (such as the semi-auto 20mm grenade launcher) and integrated electonics. Put the same night vision and other electronics packages on a M-203 and the cost is pretty similar, as is the weight.
