Le Pen has been around for years, but only recently (last 10 or so, based on my recollection) he achieved success, such as winning enough votes to be in the parliament, and some mayoral and provincial wins, around Marseilles, with heavy immigrant population (mainly Arab Muslim), I believe. But he is anti immigration........do you mean he gets his support from French, non Arab voters in Marseilles. The call him right wing of fascist, but his support comes from across the spectrum, and he is actually the biggest beneficiary of the collapse of the Communist Party in France. They are saying he's from the extreme right.......that's why they all want to support Chirac now......a less conservative conservative. ted
