AMCC reports $3.6 billion loss on sales of $153 million for fiscal year

SAN DIEGO -- Hit hard by the communications downturn, Applied Micro Circuits Corp. today reported sales of $30.1 million for Q4 ended March 30, down 75% from $121.1 million in Q4 of last year and a 25.1% sequential decline from $40.2 million in Q3 of this year.

The net loss on a GAAP basis for Q4 of fiscal 2002 was $90.3 million, or minus $0.30 per share, compared with a net loss of $193.7 million, or minus $0.65 per share, for the same period last fiscal year. In the previous period, AMCC reported a loss of $81.3 million, or minus $0.27 per share.

Net revenues for the year were $152.8 million, down 65% from $435.5 million a year ago. The net loss on a GAAP basis for the year was $3.6 billion, or minus $12.08 per share, compared with a net loss of $436.2 million, or $1.63 per share, for the same period last fiscal year.
