The Jews don't accept christ, so they don't think about the concept of Christ being a "spiritual messiah".. They're all waiting for the conquering messiah to come back and vanquish their enemies.. The Jewish people believe(d) in the biblical sense, they are a "tool of god" to purge from the earth those god saw as abhorrent... Read the old testament (numbers is a good start) where the Jews were "ordered" by god to kill every man, woman, and child of any tribe that opposed them. Everyone... total slaughter by an army of 600,000 men rampaging through the "promised land".. That doesn't "jibe" with the teachings of Jesus either in many respects, yet he drew directly from the old testament... And again.. this is not a discussion about religion (on my part), but a discussion of people's perception of religion and how guides their physical actions in the world. And you have to recall that during the time of Jesus, the Jews had already been conquered physically.. by the Romans. And there was no rebellion that I'm aware of which took place during his lifetime, thus no major war, or insurrection into which he would have become involved. But if Christians accept Jesus as God incarnate, they have to accept that this is the same god who ordered wholesale slaughter of entire nations of people which were practicing things abhorrent in "God's eyes". Thus, I don't believe the question of "what would Jesus do" rises in the minds of most reflective Christians. Because they have biblical evidence of what Jesus/god "did" before incarnation. And those who read revelation (most Christians) realize that when Jesus returns with his legion of 10,000 angels at Armaggedon, they won't be "turning the other cheek".. And that's about all I have to say on the subject... :0) Hawk
