Hi CobaltBlue; Re an eye for an eye. So much for the Old Testament as far as interpersonal conflicts being resolved using lawlessness.

People using the Old Testament to justify violent international actions would do well to use what God says about relations between nations, rather than between individuals. But I guess putting the Palestinians to the sword or selling their women into slavery wouldn't play too well nowadays.

My translation of the eye for an eye stuff is that retribution should be handled by the state and be proportionate. No state executions for parking violations. No personal revenge activity. No vigilante executions.
