A 2GHz (Palomino, certainly TBred) would perform like a 2.5 GHz P4. Add 25% IPC improvement to that and it is performing like a 50% higher clockspeed P4, or at 3.75 GHz.

You forget that increasing the clock speed by 10% increases some benchmarks by 8%, some by 5% and some by 3%.
